Alemany's Mock Trial Defense team consisting of Chris Barlog, Daniel Patterson, Matt Riek, Nicole Montes, Zaira Pascal, Nancy Juarez, Valerie Orijel, and Madeleine Misquez have been working hard all semester to ensure a NOT GUILTY verdict for defendant and team member, Michelle Vidal . If you know one of these Legal Warriors, wish them luck as they compete in the Los Angeles County Mock Trial competition Monday, November 3.

Thanks to the efforts of Gus Chahayed of Gus’ Auto Service Center at 16958 Nordhoff Street, Bishop Alemany High school has been awarded a $500 ExxonMobil Educational Alliance grant to support the school’s programs.

The Girls basketball team participated in the Dribbling for the Cure on Sunday, October 26th. Jackie Sanchez organized the event with her team and coach and she collected $1500.00 on her own. Overall the team collected $1800.00. All the money will help with pediatric cancer research and Children's Hospital of L.A. The girls dribbled their basketball around the USC campus with the Women's and Men's basketball team. There were numerous people there to support the same cause as well as several cancer survivors. The girls would like to thank everyone that helped and donated for this event. The girls look forward to participate in the same event next year.

SCORES: 25-19, 28-26, 11-25, and 25-19. Theodora Papadopoulos contributed 7 kills, 5 aces, and 3 blocks; Danielle Shoemaker added 7 aces, 3 kills and 6 digs; Cristal Sanchez helped with her 2 aces and 4 blocks. Stefanie Delgado also contributed a very consistent game with 4 kills and 4 blocks, and more importantly, some very smart plays when her team needed a momentum shift. The ladies played phenomenally as a team, with every single player, from those on the bench to those on the court, helping to break the league losses. Coach Macias is very proud of their dedication and motivation to turn the program around. GREAT JOB WARRIORS!

Alemany Dance team is selling smoothies next week for $4.00 - They can purchase pre-sale tickets from Dance team members at nutrition or lunch or they can purchase a Juice it Up smoothie after school on Friday, October 31st. Proceeds are going to the Alemany Warrior Dance Team to help them get to Nationals!

Report cards will be distributed at Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday October 28 from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the Gym.
Any report cards not picked up will be mailed on Wednesday October 29th.
Grades are available to view online Thursday October 23, 2008.
NOTE: Parent-Teacher conferences will be held in Alumni Hall (not the Gym)

For the last few weeks, Alemany students have watched student created videos and participated in class discussions that are designed to educate our Warriors on the major issues in this historical election.

Due to the recent events in our area, the yearbook staff is extending the deadline for you to reserve a space for your Senior Salutation in the 2008-2009 Yearbook. Please have your request for a space in the yearbook with at least a 50% down payment. Remember that you do not have to do this alone, get friends, family members, even coaches to help you with photos.

The girl's golf team is holding a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital in downtown L.A. on Monday 10-27-08. They are asking for students and staff to donate $2 and they will be allowed alternative dress. All money collected will be presented to the Children's Hospital toy account that allows a child from the hospital to receive a toy in the name of Bishop Alemany High School. If there are any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Keller.

We are holding a canned food drive through Friday (October 14 thru 17) along with Notre Dame High School. Students will be at various locations before school to collect food. Food can also be brought to the Administration office or Campus Ministry. We will also be collecting canned food at the entrance to the football game against Notre Dame on Friday, October 17.

Robotics Friends,Team Members and Parents: REMINDER-------This Saturday Oct. 18th from 7 am to 12noon, the DiCorrados will be hosting a Garage and Bake Sale to benefit the Alemany H.S. Robotics Team. We need donations of merchandise and bake sale items. If you can come by to help please do...

The Girls Soccer Parent Meeting for tonight (10/13/08) has been canceled due to the fires. Coach Hernandez will reschedule the meeting for a later date. Please contact the Athletic Department if you need assistance.

NOTE: All of Tuesday's on-campus athletic events and the freshmen retreat have also been canceled.
