Anthony Espinosa of Alemany of Mission Hills, the No. 2 seed at 189 pounds, met the top seed, Nikolai Crouch of Santa Fe in the final of the Southern Section's Coastal Regional, and battled for three overtime periods until Crouch captured the title 11-9. (LA Daily News 2/22/09)

Girls' Basketball Advance in CIF Playoffs!!
The Lady Warriors defeated Oak Park HS in the 1st Round of CIF Playoffs.
The 2nd Round game is this Saturday at BAHS vs. Citrus Hill HS at 7:30PM

Congratulations to the Speech team for their victorious showing on February 19 at the 72d Annual Lion's club Student Speaker Contest. The team swept the event taking first, second and third places. The winners were Melanie DeGuzman, Pascual Varni and Mark Walther. All three were awarded cash prizes. Melanie DeGuzman will advance to the regional contest where total cash prizes are in the thousands. \Go Word Warriors!

Thomas Awiapo, a hunger survivor from Ghana will be addressing our school community. He has witnessed first hand the horrors of hunger and starvation; watching members of his own family starve to death. He claims to have survived only because of the generosity of the Operation Rice Bowl campaign, which our school participates in every year. He will be visiting a number of school’s in the Archdiocese this week, and we were fortunate to be able to secure a spot. Prior to Mr. Awiapo, there will be a few student-lead presentations related to hunger and the call to respond.

Lady Warriors Advance vs. St. Lucy's today @ Damien H.S.- 3:15p.m.
Yesterday, the Lady Warriors Water Polo team was very impressive in defeating Roosevelt HS 11-5 in a Div III Wild Card match. The Girls' Water Polo team travels to Damien H.S.(La Verne) today to take on the division's #2 seed, St. Lucy's H.S. First ball drop begins at 3:15p.m.
