La Danserie, the chamber-sized contemporary ballet company dubbed “the exhilarating collective” by the Los Angeles Times, presents an evening of new works at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall, California State University Northridge.  On the program, Artistic Director Frantz’s Proof Sheet is a startling modern sextet en pointe set to Stravinsky miniatures that contrasts with his haunting and lovely Adagio and Fugue (Mozart). Pisarro-Grant’s Light Passing is a dramatic trio that explodes with all the passion of Prokofiev’s second piano concerto, while in The Low-Down Pisarro-Grant offers a coolly seductive take on Charles Mingus’ Canon. Guest Artist and audience favorite Rei Aoo returns with a premier and the program is completed with new works set to Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Ginastera, continuing the tradition of La Danserie’s “typically diverse and stimulating” (Lewis Segal, LA Times) programming.

Since 1998 La Danserie has performed throughout Los Angeles in a variety of venues including Highways Performance Space, the Los Angeles Theater Center, the Madrid Theater, California State University Northridge Performing Arts Center, Moorpark College and the Unknown Theater.  La Danserie is a non-profit company with an active school outreach program conducted in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District. La Danserie receives support from the Los Angeles Arts County Commission; Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne; and Hitachi, ltd.
