PREP FOOTBALL: Running back gets 244yards and four touchdowns as Warriors defeat Chaminade.

Chaminade High of West Hills might wear the colors of the Denver Broncos and the helmets of the Philadelphia Eagles, but Friday night, Alemany tailback Malcolm Marable was the one who looked like a pro.

Marable rushed for 244 yards and uncorked four touchdown runs - including three of more than 25yards - to lead Alemany past Chaminade 37-17 in the Mission League opener for both teams.

For the first 15 minutes, it didn't look like Marable would get on track, as the Eagles (1-7, 0-1) held him to just 14 yards and led 3-0 thanks to Matt Goudis' field goal.

Faced with a third-and-8 on its own 37-yard line early in the second quarter, Alemany quarterback David Metcalf hit Nick Cook over the middle for 37 yards. Marable then followed with a 26-yard touchdown run to give the Warriors (7-1, 1-0) their first lead.

After a punt pinned Alemany on its own 1-yard line, the Warriors went on a backbreaking 99-yard march, with Marable accounting for 46 of those yards, including a two-yard touchdown plunge to extend the lead to 14-3.

Marable erased any doubts of the game's outcome with an 80-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage in the second half, and added a 67-yard juke fest late down the left side in the third quarter to give his team a 24-point lead.

Chaminade made things interesting with a touchdown drive late in the first half. On fourth-and-2, Eagles quarterback Anthony Vitto hit Ron McRory for 38 yards down to the Alemany 1, and fullback Nick Grodotzke took care of the rest to bring Chaminade within four at halftime.
