It wasn't Lindsey Webster's right arm or her bat that proved to be her biggest asset Wednesday against Saugus. It was her short-term memory.

The Alemany of Mission Hills sophomore pitcher found herself in a five-run hole entering the bottom of the second inning, but four hits - including two home runs - and five innings later, all that Webster remembered was the 11 unanswered runs the Warriors scored against the Centurions.

After suffering a seven-run loss last year at Saugus, host Alemany overcame its early mistakes to rebound with an 11-6 nonleague victory.

"I wanted to pick my team up and get the momentum going on our side," said Webster, who belted her second and third home runs, in addition to collecting a double and driving in four runs.

"We're used to delivering in pressure situations because we work on it six days a week in practice."

Webster (4-1) also found her rhythm in the circle, striking out 12 batters and allowing an unearned run in the seventh. Her two home runs contributed to Alemany (4-3) scoring a combined nine runs in the second and third.

Carlie Lucas had two hits and scored three times for Alemany, which hit through the order during a six-run third.

"We're a close team and we back each other up," Lucas said. "We didn't panic because we knew we could come back. Putting pressure on teams is what we do best."
Alexis Tellez and Ashley Butera - who both collected two hits - delivered two-run singles as part of a four-run first for Saugus (2-6-1).

"Give Alemany credit. They fought and they never let up. It was an awesome job on their part," Saugus first-year coach Julie Watson said. "We coasted with our lead and they answered back."

Lauren Pitpit added two hits, including a double, and scored a run for the Warriors.
"(After the first inning) they thought they were going to come here and sweep us again, but we fought back," Alemany sophomore shortstop Amanda Jimenez said. "We want to be known as the team that knows how to come back; the team that never gives up."
