Espinoza pins down league title for Alemany Gary Espinoza's return to his former school was a triumphant one Tuesday.
Espinoza, who transfered from Crespi of Encino to Alemany of Mission Hills this season, secured the Warriors' first Mission League team wrestling title since 2002 by recording a pin for the decisive points in a 40-39 victory over defending-champion Crespi.
Alemany trailed 27-5 before a series of wins, including those by Anthony Espinoza, Paul Romero, Steven Flores and freshman Hakeem Gonzales. Gary Espinoza's 135-pound match was the last of the meet and anything less than a pin would have left the Warriors short of a title.
Espinoza recorded the pin in the first period, sealing Alemany's undefeated run through the league. The teams meet again Saturday in the league finals at Chaminade of West Hills.
