STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY involved signing up prior to the event and receiving a yellow wristband to indicate participation. All participating students left class at 11:18 on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 walking in silence to the Flagpole. After Fr. Paul, our Campus Minister, led the 900 assembled students in prayer encouraging all to see and solve the needs of those living with poverty and injustice, Mr.. Ferry, our principal, spoke (his statement based on the STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY pledge) and encouraged students to STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY in their everyday lives and deeds as well as in national and international awareness and action. The participating students stood-in silence-until others had gone to lunch. Then the participating students went to lunch.
