If your student received a "D" or an "F" please be aware that colleges and universities regard a grade of "D" in college preparatory courses in the same way as if the grade were an "F". This fact means that the student falls short of meeting the minimum entrance requirements and cannot be accepted. However, if a student were to repeat the course in summer school and earn at least a "C", the grade earned in summer school would also appear on the transcript and make the student eligible again. Colleges and universities have their own policies as to which grade they will accept in making their final decision, but it is definitely to the student's advantage to make up the "D" grade(s).
